Diversity improves average staff calibre, and not only by making better use of half of the talent pool. A diverse and inclusive workplace is an important part of attracting and retaining the best talent, both male and female, and allows firms to understand their customers better. This report contains eight short articles that discuss a range of gender-related issues in financial services. These articles are based on interviews conducted with senior women and men in the financial sector in several countries and a survey of 1,000 current and potential financial services employees (men and women) from around the world. It also draws on statistics we have collected concerning female representation within the financial industry.
