In some ways, the entrepreneurship gender gap is narrowing. More women are starting companies, many are having better luck accessing capital, and they are having more success competing in both the private market and in the government contracting arena. However, there’s still plenty of work to be done to put women-owned businesses on a level playing field with their men-owned counterparts. Women, for example, still tend to start their companies with less money, generally give up much more to secure that capital, and still win only a small sliver of federal contracting dollars.
