UN's 6 Principles for Responsible Banking

UN's 6 Principles for Responsible Banking

The Principles for Responsible Banking provide the banking industry with a single framework that embeds sustainability at the strategic, portfolio and transactional levels and across all business areas. The Principles align banks with society’s goals as expressed in the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement.

As society’s expectations change, banks must be transparent and clear about how their products and services will create value for their customers, clients, investors, as well as society. The Principles for Responsible Banking will help any bank – whatever its starting point – to align its business strategy with society’s goals.

Principles are:

  1. Alignment
  2. Impact
  3. Clients and Customers
  4. Stakeholders
  5. Governance and Target Setting
  6. Transparency and Accountability

The Principles are open for consultation until 31 May 2019. Please have your say in shaping the banking framework of the future.
