This study seeks to assess the relative healthiness of countries–creativity through exploration, opportunity through niche creation, and productivity through exploitation through the HeBEX model.

The HeBEx model proposes that Creativity, in the form of research and development (R&D) as well as number of patents, drives Opportunity which is characterized by exports and new businesses. This in turn pushes Productivity, evidenced by the country’s GDP. The profits derived from which fuel future innovation and investments in R&D, evidenced by entrepreneurship indices and subsequent reinvestment. This report thereby aims to analyze the national competitiveness of countries and to provide policy recommendations for sustainable growth in the future.
