Financing Agricultural Value Chains in Latin America: Barriers and Opportunities in Mexico, Peru and Honduras

The report highlights Agricultural Value Chains Financing products and structures that various lead firms, agro-processors, banks, and non-bank financial institutions have designed and implemented to provide financing to producers either directly or through producer organizations, cooperatives, etc.
These models can range in complexity from input suppliers advancing seeds or fertilizer, to lending structures that require the active involvement of lead firms and the use of government guarantee funds, such as Mexico’s FIRA, or guarantee programs, such as the Development Credit Authority (DCA) from the U.S. Agency for International Development(USAID).
