Supporting small-scale entrepreneurs and green initiatives in Armenia

Triodos Microfinance Fund and Triodos Fair Share Fund have provided a EUR 15 million subordinated debt facility to Ameriabank in Armenia to support the bank’s mission to increase its outreach to small-scale entrepreneurs and green initiatives.

Artak Hanesyan, CEO of Ameriabank: “This facility further improves our capital position under the Basel III regulations. We have now raised more than EUR 30 million subordinated debt this year, thereby maintaining a strong and diversified capital structure. This makes us well-positioned to continue growing our customer lending while maintaining strong capital adequacy ratios.”

Rosa Sarkeyeva, Regional Manager for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia: “This debt facility marks the beginning of a long-term cooperation with Ameriabank. We wholeheartedly support Ameriabank’s ambitions to increase its offering in agri-financing and renewables financing. We look forward to exploring other opportunities that will have a positive impact on local communities and contribute to economic and social development.”
