Morocco Credit Guarantee Corporation Joins 150 Other Financial Institutions to Promote SME Finance

Washington, D.C. January 29, 2019 – Morocco Credit Guarantee Corporation (CCG) became the newest member of the SME Finance Forum, a global membership network that brings together financial institutions, technology companies, and development finance institutions to share knowledge, spur innovation, and promote the growth of SMEs. 

“200 million businesses worldwide need financing to invest, grow and create new jobs. We are proud to have CCG join our network of 150 members who work to expand access to finance for small and medium businesses,” said Matthew Gamser, CEO of the Forum. 

CCG was established in 1949 and is one of the oldest guarantee and finance institutions in the MENA region. Its development was governed by the strategic needs of the Moroccan economy with a clear SME focus since the 1998 reform and an accelerated development since the 2007 reform, which positioned the CCG as the sole public credit guarantee institution in Morocco.  

“As a financial institution targeting mainly SMEs through a diversified solution portfolio including credit guarantees, joint financing with banks and private equity funds, we are looking forward to developing a solid network with institutions involved in funding solutions for SMEs,” said Hicham Zanati Serghini, CEO of Morocco Credit Guarantee Corporation. "We are excited to exchange experiences and to enhance our understanding of the challenges and perspectives linked to SMEs access to finance with the SME Finance Forum."

CCG offers a wide array of guarantee and financing products that encompass the entire lifecycle of start-ups and SMEs form pre-seed stage to transmission.
