InVenture - InSight: Presentation

InVenture - InSight: Presentation

Shivani Siroya founded InVenture in April 2011 as a crowd-sourcing platform for micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) investment. Her broader objective was to promote financial inclusion across the developing world. InVenture provided exible, equity-like capital to individuals unable to access formal bank loans or investment capital. Through the platform, InVenture placed $70,000 of capital with 48 impact-oriented businesses across south India. Entrepreneurs ranged from brick makers and tile makers to kirana store owners. For a young social enterprise, its growth was impressive. Considering, however, that over of half of the world's working-age population - approximately 2.5 billion individuals globally, including 612 million in South Asia alone - lacks affordable financial services, InVenture's intervention was not making much of a dent.
