arara joins the SME Finance Forum to help mitigate climate change at scale

Washington D.C April 2023 – arara joins the SME Finance Forum as the newest member of our global membership network. Our members are SME financing experts from 80+ countries who share the common goal of expanding access to finance to small businesses worldwide through knowledge exchange and innovation.

“Since 2016, we’ve been implementing our mission to build a global membership to support better SME financing, and since then, we’ve established a network with over 240 active member institutions, which operate in over 190 countries sharing the common purpose of helping under-served enterprises. We are delighted to welcome arara and their expertise on sustainability, supply chain resilience and climate change,” said Matthew Gamser, CEO of the SME Finance Forum.

arara.io’s world class technology platform provides climate-smart finance to supply chain companies, enabling a strong alignment and commitment to sustainability and mitigating climate change. Most corporate climate-change objectives require interventions down the supply chain. In many countries, the supply chain is often from the SME sector. Traditional estimates of the SME financing gap in developing countries (around $5 trillion) do not appear to include climate-centered finance. Given the role of the supply chain in decarbonization and addressing climate change, arara seeks to fill this gap, marrying traditional (credit-based) supply chain finance with climate analysis, addressing both an SME finance gap as well as a larger decarbonization goal, to help accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future.

“By becoming a member of the SME Finance Forum, arara looks forward to engaging and partnering with its members to mitigate climate change at scale by focusing on supply chains and SMEs’ carbon footprints,” says Felipe Gutterres, CEO, arara.
