Isaac Masusu has more than 24 years of experience in the banking having worked from SMEs, Branch Operations, corporate/wholesale banking and a mix of 19 years in Agribusiness Banking arena, including interaction with several sectors within the Food and Agricultural (F&A) value chains. He is currently a Head, Agribusiness Retail Banking, Advisory within agribusiness team of the NMB Bank PLC in Tanzania.
Isaac started his career in 1999 as Credit Officer at Branch, and in 2003, switched to the Corporate Department of the CRDB Bank PLC, as a Senior Relationship Manager for Corporate Clients. In 2006 he was fully engaged in agribusiness finance in-charge until 2011. Later he joined GroFin Fund Africa, a Venture and Equity financier, as a Country Senior Investment Manager, Tanzania Office. At GroFin, he was the initiator of deals for starting and growing SMEs businesses and managed to enable GroFin penetrate in the Tanzanian market with high potentials in Micro & SMEs finances.
In December 2012 he joined NMB PLC as a Commercial Manager, Agribusiness. All the years he has been supporting the financial needs of the various economic sectors in Tanzania that has included Inputs (Fertilizers & Chemicals), Farm machinery and equipment, transportation, Manufacturing, Food and Agribusiness (crops, livestock & Fisheries) sectors in Tanzania from primary Agriculture, food and beverages (processing), developing a good understanding of this industry and its financial needs. He has dealt with both Micro, SMEs and the Corporate world.
Since December 2022, Isaac is now serving at NMB Bank Plc as a Head, Agribusiness Retail, Advisory Services. Responsible for the bank’s agribusiness strategy amid its Medium-Term Plan 2021 - 2025. He also serves in the Agriculture Inputs Trust Fund (AGTIF) as a Director and a Board Committee Chairman. Recently, Isaac has been appointed as a Member of the Industrial Advisory Committee (IAC) for the Agricultural Sciences and Food Technology Cluster of the University of Dar Es Salaam (UDSM).
He has an Undergraduate degree and MBA from Mzumbe University, Dar Es Salaam Business School. He is a trained professional Certified Agriculture Finance professional from Kenya School of Monetary Studies and has pursued Equity and Venture Finance training from Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya. Isaac is trained in Agribusiness Value chains Financing by World Bank/AgriFin programs, Insurance, Finance and Investment by Tanzania Institute of Bankers (TIOB), Environment and Sustainability, and a trained Board Director by Institute of Directors of Tanzania (IoDT). He has a vast knowledge of the Tanzanian agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and financial industry with work exposure to the two giant banks in the country, CRDB Bank Plc (13 years) and NMB Bank Plc (12 years). Isaac has participated in world’s International Conferences on various agricultural sectors apart from obtaining vast exposure on agriculture and agri-commodities trading in China and Turkey.
