Angel Investors Rising Up in Emerging Markets

To the surprise of many, angel investing is beginning to provide needed capital to early stage entrepreneurs in developing countries. These investors are willing to invest despite high political risk, confusing regulations and poor governance. Angel groups are investing in Ukraine, Egypt, Nigeria, Ghana and many other countries.

The SME Finance Forum supports the EcoSystem Forum to understand the recent rise in angel investing and what donors and others can do to support these important groups. This webinar will virtually engage founders from these active angel groups in emerging markets with some of the top professional Angel Investors to get a deep understanding of the opportunities and constraints of angel investing.

Join us on Tuesday March 24th at 9:00 am as we welcome 4 on-the-ground angel network leaders:

  • John May is a venture capitalist who specializes in angel group formation - empowering individuals to become active early-stage private company investors.
  • Leticia Browne leads the first and only Angel Investor Network in Ghana GAIN, connecting early stage businesses with capital sourced via high net worth individuals within the business community.
  • David Beatty is an entrepreneur and Angel investor. David is currently co-founder and Vice President of Business Development for ProSeeder Technologies, an enterprise funding platform enabling financial firms to collaborate, syndicate and execute private equity and debt transactions.
  • Hossam Allam is head of Development at Hassan Allam Construction, a leading Egyptian contractor, with responsibility for the Group’s concession based businesses including industrial operations and maintenance, facilities management and energy.
